One LORD • One Faith • One Family
Our History
April of 2024, our church celebrated its 49th anniversary. Truly, we have many reasons to celebrate! We marvel at how God has blessed and used Grand Strand Baptist Church in many different ways over the years. Our church first met on Wednesday, April 2,1975 in a rented warehouse in Myrtle Beach Industrial Park. Ninety-five people were present. Our church had 172 Charter Members (those joining within 90 days). Our present location, on Hospitality Lane, is on five acres of land that was donated by Nick & Lena Mae Lucas (charter members) back in 1976.
Pastor Young was our founding Pastor. God called him to Hendersonville, NC in early 1979, but the Lord returned him back to us in June 1986. He has enjoyed a fruitful ministry here, once again, since that time.
To God be all the glory!
Throughout our history, God has always kept His gracious hand upon our ministry and blessed its many outreaches. We believe great things are on the horizon for our church, as we continue to be faithful to our Savior and His work here in Myrtle Beach.
We are continuing on the journey to make our church ministry-driven. Everyone can be involved in some ministry. And should our Lord tarry His coming, we truly want to remain a lighthouse in this growing community, building bridges for our families into the future. It is our desire to be well prepared with effective leadership and ministry since people need the Lord now more than ever. With approximately 82% of the children in our public schools being un-churched, the fields are white unto harvest! Children are our future.
We trust many more souls will be saved and discipled as we continue to reach out beyond our four walls. Our vision has always been to evangelize our community and to reach around the world with the gospel through missions. May we always allow God to use us in any way that He sees fit, all for His glory, and the furtherance of His Kingdom!
The mission of Grand Strand Baptist Church, a fellowship united by the Spirit of God for His glory, is to:
-
Daily worship God
-
Boldly proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ
-
Continually Disciple Believers
-
Unselfishly minister in love to all people
Mission Statement
What We Believe
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are verbally inspired of God, that they are without error in the original writings, that they have been Divinely preserved down through the ages, and that they are our only supreme and final authority for faith and life.
We believe in one God, the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, who is eternally existent in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His death on the Cross to pay for our sins, His bodily resurrection, His exaltation at God's right hand, His personal, imminent, pre-tribulation rapture of the Church, the Bride of Christ.
We believe that all men have sinned, and are therefore guilty before God, and are under His condemnation.
We believe that all, who by faith receive Jesus Christ, are born again of the Holy Spirit, are therefore children of God and eternally saved, and that the Holy Spirit dwells within every believer to enlighten, guide and enable him in life, testimony, and service.
We believe that God gives spiritual gifts to all believers for the building up of the body of Christ, His Church. Therefore, when the local church assembles, our Lord manifests Himself though the spiritual gifts dwelling in the hearts of each individual believer.
We believe that all spiritual gifts are given for the edifying of the Body of Christ, and that they are not given for the glorification of man.
We believe that God answers the prayers of His people and meets their needs according to His purpose.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved in Glory, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost in hell.
We believe everyone needs Jesus.
